The staff of Canaan Children’s Center strive to the best of our ability to provide quality care to the children under our care, under the supervision of the Center management. Immediate care is provided by full-time Matrons who sleep in the same houses with the children. Matrons make sure that children receive proper nutrition and learn about cleanliness and personal hygiene, and attend to the children’s moral and spiritual needs.

The Executive Director, Dr. Alex Victor Lengeju, is in charge of the Center with assistance of his wife, Mrs. Caritas Lengeju, the Child Care Coordinator, and Ms. Rose Mshanga, the Accounts Clerk who also serves as Administrative Assistant. To give direct quality care to the children, the Center has one Social Worker (Miss Queen Lukas Sane), one Teacher (Ms. Naishiye Michael), one Cook (Ms. Violet Muro) and two Matrons (Ms. Maria Matayo and Miss Mary Massawe).

The Director has vast experience in providing quality care to children, having been the Village Director of SOS Children’s Villages for seven years. The Child Care Coordinator is an experienced registered nurse-midwife. The Archdiocese deliberately decided to place the Centre in the hands of this experienced and capable couple in order to give our children an image of a caring family. The management is supervised by a Board of Governors, which is currently chaired by Bishop Prosper Lyimo.

We currently have one vacancy for a Matron, for which we have already started the process of recruitment.
